Katie Hornbaker
CRNA, ARNP, NSPM-C
Katie Hornbaker and her family have lived in Grand County since 2014 and she is excited to bring her passion for pain management to this amazing community. She grew up in Sioux City, Iowa and found her calling for anesthesia and pain management when she was a freshmen in high school while attending a “take your daughter to work day” with her dad, a trauma surgeon. Watching a pain management specialist reduce a patient’s pain, and then watching them leave the office with a smile on their face instead of the tears they came in with, changed Katie’s life forever.

She graduated from anesthesia school in 2009 and worked at one of Omaha’s Level-1 trauma facilities until moving to CO. Her experience caring for trauma patients fueled her desire to find a better way to manage a patient’s pain, which began her journey into opioid-free anesthesia and ultrasound guided regional anesthesia. For six years Katie worked as the solo anesthesia provider for Grand and Jackson counties. Her multimodal and opioid free approach earned her national recognition, and began to attract out-of-state patients to seek her expertise.

Upon Katie’s arrival to CO, she saw the need for chronic pain management services in Grand County and the surrounding area. It wasn't until 2022, that she began the mission to provide pain management services in a rural community, and the path to Grand Pain Specialists unfolded.
Katie is board certified in anesthesiology and chronic pain management and will use her extensive background in anesthesia, anatomy, ultrasound, sports performance, and pain management to provide the most comprehensive assessment and plan of care.
